Travels and Life
I created this blog in May 2011. Between current posts I will be adding travels from previous experiences. So please do not get confused when you see older posts from 2009, or even 1999. Thanks, and I hope you enjoy.
A little about my Family
Carrie, my Fiance, and I have been together since 2007. She is an amazingly kind and generous person, with a big heart, and is ready to give whatever she can if asked. She makes jewelry and many other craft items. We have a wonderful bundle of energy, named Xayne. He is 14 months old and into everything
. My two oldest children are Savannah and Colton, and they live in Texas with their mother. Carrie’s 9 year old Daughter, Zoe, is like my own, and we have a solid father-daughter relationship, enjoying arts, and many other activities together. We all love to travel and explore new territory, as well as just enjoying the moment whenever we can.
Hopefully, if things ever get straightened out with my ex-wife, Savannah and Colton will be able to adventure with us…It’s been far too long.
Some words about me and my Life Travels
Since I was a child I have been either traveling or moving, within the western United States and Canada. My (step) Dad was a snowbird who worked in Lac La Biche, Alberta, Canada, and summered in Apache Junction, Arizona. From the time I was three, we started the process of summers in Canada and winters in Arizona. Now he is retired in Bayview, Idaho, and remarried. My mother just liked to move it seems. In her defense, some of it was necessary. I love her anyhow. It made life pretty fun though, and I was rarely bored. Probably why I can’t keep myself planted. I am seeking to grow my roots somewhere and buy a home. Home is where the heart is, hmm… or is it where you plant your feet? I like to think that home is where I am, whether it be very challenging like when I was in the Marine Corps or something not so smart, such as joining the Circus, the thrill of Skydiving or something as amazing as Spelunking, or even just simply traveling.
Work Experiences
I started in Graphic Design in 1997, finishing a program at Collins Design School. I have been working in the this field, and related fields, ever since. In 2001, I began school for photography at the Art Institute of Seattle, and incorporated this into my bag of tools and I love it (one can never know enough about visual communications). Now days, I am back in school at the University of Utah for Sculpting (BFA), I freelance design work, and shoot mostly for pleasure and some for business, finding it more enjoyable this way. Please visit JosephDC.com to view my current artwork. More of my photography can be seen at Flickr, iStock, and JosephDC.
I like being in the moment, (although challenging). I believe life is a compilation of activities, experiences and journeys, both good and bad. I hope you enjoy the posts.
Sub note: Please visit the People page to see the peeps I have met along the way. Last names are not listed—unless requested. Who knows, maybe you will see yourself there.
